Into The Darkest Corner (Book Review)

Into The Darkest Corner (Front Cover)

Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes was first published in 2011 and went on to win the Amazon best book of the year and the rising stars award. Following the protagonist Catherine, we see through her daily activities that she is struggling with extreme OCD due to the demons of her past. The novel switches between present day and the past, and through this we see that Catherine used to be much different. A bubbling individual with an abundance of friends with which she enjoys partying and drinking with. This is when she meets Lee, a gorgeous and mysterious man, everything a girl could ask for, but is not exactly as he seems as his increasingly erratic behaviour becomes frightening and dangerous.

If you're looking for an intense and gripping novel (a psychological thriller as such), then this is definitely the one for you! I was unable to put it down, and ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting. Everything was written with incredible detail and insight as well as compassion, especially the portrayal of OCD and domestic violence. She is a very unique author, that shows you that life definitely isn't always as it seems and the real horrors that happen behind closed doors. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books, and she is definitely one to watch!
